A Love of Learning and the Perseverance to Succeed (LLPS)

Welcome to 2DG

Spring Term A

Our connector is ...

Tickets Please

This will focus on London buses and we will be looking at how these have changed throughout history and producing a timeline to show the changes.  Our class will have the opportunity to visit the London Transport Museum on Monday 21st January to find out more about different modes of transport.

We will then be using all this information to write a non-chronological report.

During our English lessons, we will be reading Mr Gumpy’s Motor Car.

Children will be writing setting and character descriptions as well as retelling part of this story.  Our focus will be on using the past and present tenses correctly.

In science we will be learning about the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of different types of food as well as hygiene.

Our focus in computing will be identifying the benefits of technology, including finding information, creating and communicating.  In design and technology we will be exploring how wheels and axles are used in products.

We will be looking at division during our maths lessons and how it relates to multiplication.  Children will be expected to learn the division facts related to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.  Later on in the half term, we will be looking at statistics; this will include simple pictograms, tally charts and bar charts.

Library books and reading books are changed weekly. Please make sure your child has these books in school every day.  Please make it a habit to read with your child daily and to encourage them to talk about their books.  This term, our PE session is on a Tuesday and we would be most grateful if you could make sure that your child has a full PE kit in school, including a change of shoes.  Homework will go out on a Friday and should be handed back in on the following Wednesday.

We hope that you will really enjoy your year in 2DG.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to us.
