This half term children will be using ‘The Window’ by Jeannie Baker to write contrasting setting descriptions. We will then be using the story to create our own poems.
In Geography we will be learning about hot and cold places around the world.
Children will be introduced to the vocabulary below and learn how a country's climate is affected by how close it is to the equator.
We will then be applying our knowledge by making short films about a hot or cold place. Children will also be creating collages using a range of textiles.
In Maths we will be applying our knowledge to a range of problem solving activities. Children will be learning how to divide using a number line.
Children need to know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables as well as the following facts by the end of Year 2. Please practise them regularly.

365 days = 1 year
366 days = 1 leap year
Library books and reading books are changed weekly. Please make sure your child has these books in school every day. Please make it a habit to read with your child daily and to encourage them to talk about their books. This term, our PE session is on a Tuesday and we would be most grateful if you could make sure that your child has a full PE kit in school, including a change of shoes. Homework will go out on a Friday and should be handed back in on the following Wednesday.
