This term we will be exploring the Stone Age and understanding the legacy left behind. We will be learning about the cave art our ancestors left for us and creating our own using different media– such as chalks, charcoal and paint
In maths we will extend our knowledge of place value. Our knowledge of times tables will be applied when solving multiplication and division problems. We will be developing our knowledge and understanding of money. The children will also be collecting data and using this information to support their learning of statistics.
In English, children will learn how to write dialogue using inverted commas. We will also focus on the features of persuasive writing, incorporating our knowledge of prehistoric life.
Science will be taught as part of our connected curriculum and will focus on rocks and soils (including fossils). Children will take part in a number of practical activities which will involve observing, comparing and sorting.
During computing we will look at e-safety and online communications. Pupils will participate in Safer Internet Day and learn how to act in an appropriate manner when using the internet. They will have the opportunity to create a leaflet about online safety and contribute to a whole school blog.
Please make it a habit to read with your child and to ask them open-ended questions such as 'why do you think...?' so that your child can really elaborate on their answer and you can also see how much your child has understood the text.
This term our PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so they can participate.
Homework will go out on Fridays and we will expect it to be in the following Wednesday.
I am looking forward to an exciting term in 3H!
