We will be exploring the Stone Age and understanding the legacy left behind. We will be learning about the cave art our ancestors left for us and creating our own using different media– such as chalks, charcoal and paint that we will make using berries.
Work will be exhibited in our classroom art gallery, children will develop the importance of celebrating success in learning.
In maths this term we will be increasing the children’s fluency with whole numbers and the four key operations, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) including number facts and the concept of place value. By the end of year 3 it is expected that the children will be able to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 times tables.
In science we will be investigating the human body, focusing on how muscles work.
Children will learn the names of the bones that comprise the skeleton. They will compare the human skeleton to that of other animals.
Please make it a habit to read with your child and to ask them open-ended questions such as 'why do you think...?' so that your child can really elaborate on their answer and you can also see how much your child has understood the text.
This term our PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so they can participate.
Homework will go out on Fridays and we will expect it to be in the following Wednesday.
I am looking forward to an exciting term in 3H!
