This half term we will be focusing on the author Roald Dahl. Children will identify how the language used contributes to the reader’s experience. This topic will enable children to develop their skills in justifying their personal opinion. Pupils will write reviews on books and poems and celebrate World Book Day.
This half term during Maths our focus will be on increasing the children’s fluency with whole numbers and the four key operations, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) including number facts and the concept of place value. By the end of year 3 it is expected that the children will be able to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.
In science we will be investigating magnets. Pupils will identify magnetic and non-magnetic materials and the effect of magnetic poles. Children will take part in a number of practical activities which will involve predicting, observing and recording.
In Design and Technology, children will design and make their own book-themed fridge magnets and book marks.
Please make it a habit to read with your child and to ask them open-ended questions such as 'why do you think...?' so that your child can really elaborate on their answer and you can also see how much your child has understood the text.
This term our PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so they can participate.
Homework will go out on Fridays and we will expect it to be in the following Wednesday.
I am looking forward to an exciting term in 3H!
