This term we will be focusing on the author Roald Dahl. Children will identify how the language used contributes to the reader’s experience. This topic will enable children to develop their skills in justifying their personal opinion.
Pupils will write reviews on books and poems and celebrate World Book Day on Thursday
7th March. Children can dress up as their favourite book character.
During Maths, our focus this year will be on increasing the children’s fluency with whole numbers and the four key operations, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) including number facts and the concept of place value. By the end of year 3 it is expected that the children will be able to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2,3, 4,5,6 ,8 and 10 times tables.
This half term we will introduce the topic of statistics. Pupils will interpret data using bar charts, pictograms and tables. We will solve one and two step questions using information presenting in scaled bar charts, pictograms and tables. They will also be finding out about length and perimeter in measurement. We will also be introducing the children to fractions.
Science will be taught as part of our connected curriculum and will focus on light Children will take part in a number of practical activities.
In Computing this half term children will be looking at data and information. They will look at the different ways that data can be organized and use 2graph to represent this information. The children have their own USO’s, which will give them access to this online software at home.
This term our PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so they can participate.
Homework will go out on Fridays and we will expect it to be in the following Wednesday.
