Our focus for this term is the Romans and the legacy they left Britain. We will be finding out about Roman roads, baths, language, towns and infrastructure. Using a range of historical and modern day texts we will learn about how the Romans changed British life.
In history we will be uncovering the timeline of the Roman Empire; how and why they invaded Britain.
In maths we will be focusing on all aspects of measurement, including using the correct units of measure. Children will be learning how to tell the time including using Roman numerals.
In science we will be investigating the human body, focusing on how muscles work. Children will learn the names of the bones that comprise the skeleton. They will compare the human skeleton to that of other animals.
In Computing we will create their own games using Scratch and 2DIY 3D. Children will create computer programs using sequence and repetition. Laptops will be used to research the Roman era.
Please make it a habit to read with your child and to ask them open-ended questions such as 'why do you think...?' so that your child can really elaborate on their answer and you can also see how much your child has understood the text.
This term our PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so they can participate.
Homework will go out on Fridays and we will expect it to be in the following Wednesday.
I am looking forward to an exciting term in 3H!
