Welcome to 3R!
This term, Summer 2, our Connector is…..
Our focus for this term is the Romans and the legacy they left Britain. We will be finding out about Roman roads, baths, language, towns and infrastructure. Using a range of historical and modern day texts we will learn about how the Romans changed British life.
In history we will be uncovering the timeline of the Roman Empire; how and why they invaded Britain.
In geography we will be looking at ordinance survey maps, the meaning of symbols and how to plot direction.
In maths we will be looking at mass and capacity. We will be focusing on aspects of measurement, including using the correct units of measure. We will also be finding out all about Geometry and the properties of shape.
By the end of year 3 it is expected that the children will be able to recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4, 6 and 8 times tables.
In science we will be finding out all about floating and sinking.
We will be thinking about fair testing and carrying out investigations using different materials. We will be gathering, recording, classifying and presenting data in a variety of ways to help answer questions.
Please make it a habit to read with your child and to ask them open-ended questions such as 'why do you think...?' so that your child can really elaborate on their answer and you can also see how much your child has understood the text.
This term our PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so they can participate.
Homework will go out on Fridays and we will expect it to be in the following Wednesday.
I am looking forward to an exciting term in 3R!
