Our connector this term is
This half term we will be learning about Mexico.
You will be writing an information text on the Mayans and their way of life. In art, we will be doing textile weaving; choosing Mayan colours for designs to produce a Mexican style wall hanging.
We will also learn about modern day Mexican traditions such as ’the day of the dead’.
Our history focus will be Ancient Mexican civilisations and you will produce a leaflet to show what you have learned. We will also learn where Mexico is on a map of the world and be able to name its major tourist attractions.
Our focus for science is light and shadow.
You will be able to identify and name a variety of light sources and understand and describe how the eye sees things.
Experiments will be about identifying what happens to light when it is shone on different objects/surfaces and studying shadows and how they are formed.
We will be finishing the year 6 curriculum with angles and properties of circles.
You will then be revising in the lead up to your SATs exams. All topics from the year 5 and 6 curriculum will be revisited and you will be practicing a range of SATs style questions.
After SATs we will be doing transition work to prepare you for secondary school.
Reading records must be in school every day and you must keep up to date with your target.
