Our connector is ‘A World of Discovery’ and we will be reading Michael Morpurgo’s novel, Kensuke’s Kingdom. We will use the novel for reading and writing sessions and will use the story to debate key issues in the book. In English, we will describing settings and characters as well as writing from different points of view. We will also write diaries and letters as Michael, the main character in the novel.
In geography, we will be using atlases and maps to plot Michael's journey around the world.
We will be learning about Japanese painters and painting in the style of these artists.
To help you in Maths, try to learn your multiplication facts at home. This will help you in class as we will be learning about factors, square and prime numbers. Our main focus' this half term will be on place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Our topic in Science is ‘Evolution and Inheritance’. You will be learning about living things and how they have changed over time. You will be able to recognise that living things produce offspring and understand that these offspring vary. You will also be able to describe how adaptation leads to evolution and will be exploring how skeletons have changed over time by looking at fossils and how they are formed.
