LORDSHIP LANE PRIMARY SCHOOL

A Love of Learning and the Perseverance to Succeed (LLPS)

English

We aim to develop in our pupils an enjoyment of reading which will inspire them to continue positive reading habits outside the classroom and into young adulthood.  We achieve this through extensive early intervention programmes and inspirational literacy lessons, using quality real texts, leading to quality first teaching experiences.

Parents are encouraged to continue their child’s reading experience at home through the home reading scheme. Click here to find out more about reading.

Writing is developed first through oracy opportunities where pupils have opportunities to contribute with the class, the adult or with Talk Partners before refining this ‘talk’ into the written word. This begins with mark making and develops as a writing journey towards confidence to produce quality written texts in a variety of genres by the end of Year 6.  All stages of this writing journey are celebrated and promoted across the school.
