This term the children will be learning about recycling and its importance for our environment. They will be describing the journey of rubbish and writing a patterned poem about a landfill. We will be designing posters and making leaflets using ICT.

We will be reading a variety of information books and leaflets about recycling, including Michael Recycle and Litterbug Doug by Ellie Bethel. The children are encouraged to bring to class any appropriate leaflets or books about our topic.

In maths we will be looking at place value, adding and subtracting two digit numbers and ordering numbers from 0 up to 100, using <, > and = signs. We will also be looking at telling the time using an analogue and digital clock.

Can children please continue to practice their times tables at home and telling the time.

In RE we will be learning about Christianity. The focus will be on the ’Nativity Story.’ Towards the end of the term the children will be performing the ’Nativity Story' to our parents.

Library books and reading books are changed weekly. Please make sure your child has their book as they enjoy choosing new books. If anything has happened to their book, just let me know. What is most important is that your child has a book to read. Please either send me a note or catch me at the end of the day.
Please make it a habit to read with your child and to ask them open-ended questions such as 'why do you think...?' so that your child can really elaborate on their answer and you can also see how much your child has understood the text.

This term our PE is on Mondays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit, so that your child can participate.

Homework will go out on a Fridays and we will expect it to be in by Wednesday. Homework will include a maths sheet as well as a literacy based activity.

Looking forward to an exciting term in 2H!
