DESIGN AND MAKE A TOY ROCKET

You will need:

  • 3 sheets of paper (orange, white and yellow).
  • Scissors.
  • Glue or tape or a stapler
  • A kitchen paper roll.
  • Yellow tissue paper.

 

 

1. Cut out a 5cm radius circle from the orange paper and wrap it around to make a cone.

2. Cut the white paper using the length of the kitchen roll and wrap it around the roll.

3. Glue the cone on top of the kitchen roll and the white paper wrapped around the roll.

4. Cut out three small circles from the yellow paper to make the windows of the rocket.

5. Cut out two small triangles to make the base for the rocket.

6. Make two small cuts (5cm long) at the bottom of the roll.

7. Insert the triangles and fix with glue.

8. Glue the yellow circles on the kitchen roll.

9. Cut the yellow tissue paper and attach to the bottom.

Maths

Measuring and predicting distances

• Predict how far your rocket will go in cm.

• Use a measuring tape to record each throw.

• You should launch your rocket a number of times, Firstly estimating the distances travelled and then measuring them.

 

Use a similar format like the ones below to record your estimated and actual distances.
