A Love of Learning and the Perseverance to Succeed

Year 3

Welcome to Year 3's Class Page

Hi Year 3,

We hope that you are all well! We miss you and look forward to seeing you again in time.

We would love to receive messages from you all telling us how you are getting on at home. To do this, use the Contact Us forms at the bottom of this page.

Our school is now closed to most children, but this will pass and we will all see each other again soon! If you are worried about what is happening with the coronavirus, remember to speak to adults about it and remember that children are mostly less affected. The following website has more information: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51877454.

Year 3 Update

We are now using Seesaw for our home learning while the school is closed. The website you need to use is http://seesaw.me. If you are using a tablet or a phone, you need to download the Seesaw Class app.  You should have received a letter in the post with instructions about how to set up and log in to Seesaw. This new platform will make it much easier for teachers to see what you are learning at home and for you to contact them too.  We have kept the past weeks' home learning on this page in case you want to see it, and you can still contact your teacher using the form at the bottom of the page if you want to.

It is very important that you keep learning while you are at home.  Your day will probably look quite different to a normal school day. This is fine. Each day, please complete the activities on Seesaw.  If you want to spend more time on your learning, then of course you can! You should have a set of projects in your pack from school that you can work on, and the latest news button on the school website will have things to do too. There are also some fantastic links below to support you in your learning.

How can children practise at home?

Children have been given log in details for Spelling Shed and Times Tables Rockstars.

Ask them to show you how it works as it really helps children take ownership over their own learning in a fun way.

If children forget their passwords, please ask their class teacher.  We can all be contacted through the links at the bottom of this webpage.

In addition the children have logins for Purple Mash which will support their Computer Skills but also there are activities for other subjects. If you select Serial Mash it has a range of books at every level, which are updated half termly, including a range for reluctant readers.  You can print the pages as well as activities to match what is read.

They have also been given their logins for learning Spanish.

A free range of audible books including some classic novels for older pupils are available.

The PE Hub Portal is a free resource that is targeted to support parents in leading simple activities at home.  No prior teaching or coaching experience is necessary!  Choose from a variety of sessions from pulse-raising activities and challenges to fun games to play in the house.

PE with Joe Wicks

Stay as active as you can! Joe Wicks is leading a 30 minute PE lesson online for children each day. It will be live-streamed at 9am, then put on his Youtube channel:

Coding is Fun.  Try It!

Here is a really fun coding activity for your child. The children can code their own dance party!  They will get a certificate at the end with their names and they can also share their work via a link. If you go to the Latest News page on the website, there will be a blog where children can share their links.

Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE)
The following link shares daily challenge videos that aim to encourage pupils to participate in social action every day whilst being at home. The daily challenges are a great way to begin important discussions on local and global social issues such as the environment, homelessness, discrimination and well-being.

Daily Challenge Videos:

This is a very challenging time for everybody and we are aware that some young people may find this situation very worrying and at times quite overwhelming. The following video discusses the importance of mental health and how to manage feelings of anxiety.
