Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
Morning everyone,
I hope you are all well, I think about you every day! I know that things are different at the moment and sometimes it can be hard to stay positive all the time. I have found an activity for you that helps you to think about all the positive things that are happening around you. Follow the link below and look at the 'How many Positives' activity. How many positives can you think of? What are you thankful for?
https://youngminds.org.uk/resources/school-resources/how-many-positives-activity-sheet/
I also saw another activity for all you budding artists out there. Why not give this shadow drawing a try?
I hope you are all staying safe and well - I miss you all terribly!
Mrs Randles :)
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are mindful that increased activity online will pose an increased safeguarding risk, and we ask for your help in keeping your children safe online. Please make sure you know what websites/apps they are accessing and supervise and check that they are age appropriate.
The NSPCC provides great information about what age restrictions should be for various apps, and what the online risks are in using them:
https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/
LgFL also provide useful guidance:
Dear All,
I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and managed to keep yourself busy at home.
I wanted to share a fun task with you all today - on a tablet or smart phone google any animal, for example 'Emperor penguin' or 'Tiger' and look in the search results for the 'View in 3D' option. It opens a pages which shows the animal in 3D and puts it in your surroundings. A shark in your bathroom? A lion at the table?
Have a go and see which animal you can share your house with. Remember to take a screen snap of your animal and share with your family.
I hope the home learning is going well and remember to try and read everyday.
Good morning everyone!
I hope you are all well and that you are adjusting to life at home.
I have been trying to keep track of all the amazing things that are now available for families to access at home. It really is wonderful how much is out there but it also may feel a little overwhelming right now.
To help sift though the information overload, I have put a few links below that I feel are great and I hope you find them useful at home.
BBC live lessons - A whole host of lessons for all areas of the curriculum!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/primary/zd7p47h
BBC - Super Movers - Again a wide range of lessons that also incorporate lots of movement to keep us all active.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers
BBC Bitesize has lots of learning opportunities that you may find useful.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/primary
Please have a look at the resources available and use whatever you feel works for you and your family. We will all need time to adjust to our new routines and this may take some time. If you are not quite into the swing of it yet, please do not worry! We are all in this together and we will continue to support you from our end as much as we possibly can.
If all else fails, if you can read a story to your children, or listen to one of the online options together every day then that is a start. You can then start adding in other learning activities over time. Try acting out the story together after you have read it or talk about what your favourite part of the story was and why.
We all need to take this one day at a time and be kind to ourselves and others.
I am thinking of you all and very much and missing our Lordship Lane family.
Take care.
Mrs Wilding
Dear Parents/Carers,
I have received reports that a scam email is being sent to parents, asking them for bank details if they have children who qualify for Free School Meals. Please remember not give out private information (such as bank details or passwords), reply to text messages, download attachments or click on any links in emails if you’re not sure they’re genuine. Please see this government link for further helpful information: https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-websites-phishing
I hope you are all managing to cope in your strange new situations. I know your children's teachers are working hard to support you and your children and provide you with activities to help you structure your days. I do recognise that some of you may be finding this 'home schooling' daunting.
My advice is do what you can, when you can and make sure you have positive experiences and fun times too. I know your world must feel like it has been turned upside down, but so has the children's and they understand a lot less about why. Playing games, planting in the garden, listening to music, dancing will all help your child's development and learning as much as the home learning set by school. Remember, we are often saying we don't have enough time, now we do! Please look after yourselves and enjoy being with one another.
Take care and I am thinking about you all,
Mrs Randles :)
Hello everyone!
I hope that this finds you all well and that you are staying safe at home.
You will all know how much I love reading, and how much I love talking to you all about reading, but today I have a new suggestion. If you have been missing story time at school, then this is going to be fantastic for you.
Audible are offering children's stories online for free at the moment - you normally have to pay for it! You can choose a story and sit back, relax and listen to it being read to you.
Parents: not only do children love being read to, but this is also a fantastic way of building vocabulary, so it's excellent for their leaning too!
The website you need to visit is: http://stories.audible.com. You don't even have to sign up - it's completely free to use.
Enjoy the stories, and stay safe,
Mr Thompson.

Good morning everybody! I hope you are all keeping yourselves well. I found a gem of an idea for you all yesterday!

Stay safe and well,

Dear parents/carers,
Thank you for your patience and understanding at this very tricky time. As you are aware, we are closing for the foreseeable future to reduce the transmission of coronavirus.
We are all very sad to be saying goodbye for now and hope that these measures will enable us to normalise as soon as possible.
We have set remote and home learning, however we do understand that during this transition period the children may be anxious, worried and need to have some rest and relaxation at home with you.
I would like to remind you of the government guidance that “Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.” I fully understand that this is very hard to adhere to during the period of school closure, but you do need to ensure you and your children avoid extensive or close contact with their friends during the time schools are closed. This is to ensure we can all get back to normal as soon as possible.
Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts to the staff at this time, it really does keep spirits up!
Take care of each other and stay well!
Mrs Randles
