A Love of Learning and the Perseverance to Succeed

Curriculum

Our curriculum is the planned experiences and interactions our children encounter every day.  We strongly believe that everyone is entitled to an ambitious curriculum and our curriculum design is accessible for all, including children with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds.

We have four key aims that lie at the heart of everything we do:

  • To develop children’s knowledge. Children will be equipped with the knowledge they need to succeed in life, with new knowledge building on their previous knowledge.  Our curriculum meets the expectations of the National Curriculum and, in places, exceeds this.  We also ensure children develop fluency in their basic skills, including reading, writing and arithmetic.
  • To build children’s cultural capital. Children will be equipped with the essential knowledge, behaviours and skills that they need to become educated citizens.  We believe that this is a key ingredient in ensuring that our pupils are successful in society, their career and the world of work.
  • To celebrate our diverse community. Our families have originated from across the world. We enable the children to learn and respect different cultures and ensure that our children can see themselves in our curriculum.
  • To build children’s vocabulary. We ensure that all children gain subject specific vocabulary to enable them to fully grasp the knowledge taught.

Our children leave us as confident, capable learners fully ready to meet the needs of the next stage of their learning.  They will have been immersed in a wide range of experiences and will be excited to take their learning further.
