A Love of Learning and the Perseverance to Succeed

Hello and thinking of you all!

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the close of the Spring term, we are at the end of what has been a very strange 2 weeks for us all. I hope you are all starting to fall into your new ‘normal’ way of life.

The next two weeks are what would have been our Easter Holidays, I know some of you will have had to cancel plans to see family, holidays and much more. However, the weather is supposed to brighten up again over the next few days and I hope you are able to get out into the sunshine.

There are lots of ideas of activities at the bottom of this email to keep the children busy over the next couple of weeks in addition to the work the class teachers have put up on their class pages.

For you, in case you didn’t know, the National Theatre are going to stream some of their plays live every Thursday evening: https://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/which should be a great night in for parents!

Remember, it is ok for your child to be bored and have unstructured time. Actually, there is a lot of research saying that being bored has huge benefits for children. When children are left to their own devices, they’re forced to be more creative and imaginative in finding ways to amuse themselves, it helps build their resilience and develop their problem solving skills. When your children have opportunities to occupy themselves, and manage to do so successfully, it gives their self-esteem a boost. Research has shown that allowing the mind time to wander rather than being focused on activities all the time is very important for mental health. When we talk about our childhood memories, we rarely remember anything material, it is connections, laughter and nature that we do remember!

Keep well and stay safe,

Mrs Randles
