Some fun maths games to play

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well, and that you've managed to make the most of the nice weather we've had recently in whatever way that current circumstances permit.

One of the things that you can all be doing at home that will have a big impact on your learning in school when we come back is mental maths, and luckily there are lots of games you can play that will help you with this but which, more importantly, are really fun. Here are some of my favourites:

Hit the button is a classic - many children will have played it already and it's great for both key stage 1 and their number bonds or times tables higher up the school.

Countdown - this is an online version of the classic TV gameshow. You can also play a much harder version involving fractions here.

Remainders Game - this one will really get you thinking. Read the instructions carefully - you may need to play a couple of times before you get the hang of it so be persistent!

If getting online is difficult, this blog has got lots of ideas for mathematical games that you can play offline too.

Happy mathsing!
